CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- #4 Franklin & Marshall's women's
lacrosse team raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first ten minutes of
an 18-2 Centennial Conference (CC) win at Washington College on
Saturday. Nine different players scored for the Diplomats
(12-1, 7-0 CC). The Shorewomen (5-7, 0-6 CC) managed only 10 shots
in the game.
For the fifth time in as many games, the Diplomats scored in the
opening minute. As she did in last Saturday's 19-1 win at
Dickinson, Jen Pritchard (Media, Pa. / Penncrest)
scored 18 seconds in. She finished the game with three goals and an
assist, moving into second on F&M's career points list. She
needs 31 to tie Lauren Petrella '94 for the career record.
Pritchard had her hat trick by halftime.
Meredith Lussier (Radnor, Pa. / Radnor)
followed Pritchard with a pair of goals separated by 2:43.
Ashley Bevington (Pottstown, Pa. / The Hill
School) and Lauren Ehrhardt (Westbury, N.Y. /
Kellenberg Memorial) all scored in the first 9:04 to build
the early lead. Bevington finished the game with three goals and an
assist. She now has 99 goals in her career, leaving her one-goal
shy of becoming the fifth active Diplomat to achieve that
milestone.
Shannon Summers (North Wales, Pa. / The Hill
School) continued to pour on the points with a two goal,
six assist effort. She rolled up six of those points in the first
half, helping F&M to a 14-0 lead by the locker room break.
Lidia Sanza (Cockeysville, Md. / SPSG)
worked 42:37 scoreless minutes in the F&M net with five saves
to her credit. Chelsea Meerbach (York, Pa. / York)
worked the balance, allowing two goals, both in the final ten
minutes. Meerbach was credited with a single save.
Franklin & Marshall returns home on Wednesday for a
Centennial showdown with #5 Gettysburg.
