ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Elizabethtown held Franklin & Marshall
scoreless over both halves of Wednesday's doubleheader. The Blue
Jays (7-17) won the opener 5-0 and edged the Diplomats (12-12) 1-0
in the nightcap.
Paige Tanner's triple to right-center in the third inning was
all of the offense Elizabethtown needed in the opener. Tanner
plated runners who had reached on a walk and an error to make it a
2-0 contest in favor of the Jays. Tanner was 2-for-4 with two RBIs
in the opener. Elizabethtown added three runs on five hits in the
sixth to eliminate any doubt about the uncertainty of the outcome.
Julie Sebastain (4-9) scattered six hits and struck out a pair
without issuing a walk in the opener. F&M stranded five
runners. Lauren Incorvaia picked up a pair of hits. Sam Basuk's
lone hit was a double. Kristina Fietkiewicz recorded a hit and a
stolen base.
Elaine Parr (3-8) struck out five and limited F&M to an
equal number of hits in the second game. Despite allowing only four
hits, Nicole Morano (5-4) came out on the wrong side of the
pitchers' duel. Two of the hits came in the third. Shannon Marisco
got on board with a one out single into right and made her way into
scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Lauren Hoover singled into
leftfield, to drive in the game's only run.
Jessika Mancino and Jessica Feldman each picked up a pair of
hits in the second game. Feldman recorded a double and a triple.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at Ursinus.
