Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Two goals in a 24 second span proved to
be the difference as Cabrini women's soccer team collected a
2-0 win at Franklin & Marshall. The Cavilers' (1-0) Sammy
Thompson assisted on both goals feeding breakaways by freshmen
Maddy Edwards and Alex Tralie late in the first period.
The Diplomats (0-1) had multiple opportunities in the second
half outshooting Cabrini 5-2, but Gianni Porretta, who had six
shutouts a year ago, was up to the task. Porretta (1-0) recorded
six saves in the duration.
Save for a minute, Franklin & Marshall's freshmen
laden team held their own. The Diplomats rolled out seven
first-years for the season opener. One of the freshmen, keeper
Katie Golding, stopped four shots in absorbing the loss.
The Diplomats return to action Sunday against Allegheny.
