HAVERFORD, Pa. - James McNally's fifth double-double this season
led #19 Franklin & Marshall to a 58-42 victory over Haverford
in a Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball game Saturday
afternoon. McNally finished with 15 points and 12 boards as the
Diplomats improved to 14-3 (8-2 CC). The Fords fell to 9-9 (5-3
CC).
The Diplomats were in an early hole as Haverford jumped out to a
10-0 lead three minutes into the game. Both teams struggled to hit
their shots before McNally sank two free throws to tie the game at
16 with 3:50 remaining in the half. F&M ended the stanza on a
9-5 run to lead 25-21 at the break.
F&M opened the second period on a 20-6 run to go up 18
points, 45-27, with 9:57 showing on the clock. Bo Friddell hit a
try at 5:23 to close the gap to 12 points but the Diplomats
responded with a 10-2 run to lead by 20 points and cruised to the
victory.
In addition to McNally, two other players scored in
double-figures for F&M. Georgio Milligan matched McNally with
15 points and Steve Tolliver contributed 12. Milligan was 7-for-9
from the line and Tolliver shot 4-for-6 from the floor.
F&M collected 12 steals, resulting in 14 points, with
Anthony Brooks and McNally picking up three steals apiece.
Doug Edleman and Sam Permutt scored 13 and 10 points
respectively for the Fords. Edleman added a game-high 18 rebounds
for the double-double.
Franklin & Marshall continues its three-game road trip when
the Diplomats travel to Johns Hopkins for a double-header on
Wednesday. The women tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8
p.m.
