BALTIMORE – Anthony Brooks only had two foul shot
opportunities in the game, but he made them count, draining both
with 1:18 left in the game to help secure a 53-50 Franklin &
Marshall victory over Johns Hopkins in a Centennial Conference (CC)
men's basketball game. The win is the fourth-straight for the
#17 Diplomats as they improved to 15-3 (9-2 CC). Hopkins fell to
8-9 (4-6 CC).
Trailing by as many as 11 points, and down 23-18 at the break,
F&M battled back to take its first lead of the night on a James
McNally jumper six minutes into the second half. The lead was short
lived as Mike Rhoads' layup put the Jays back on top, 37-36,
with 9:23 remaining. Hopkins built their lead to five points,
45-40, at 5:10 mark.
The Diplomats responded scoring six unanswered points to retake
the lead with 2:16 left. Andrew Miller's tip-in at 1:25 gave
Hopkins a one-point edge, 47-46, setting up Brooks' foul
shots. Georgio Milligan made the front end of his two shots from
the line with 19 seconds left. His second shot from the stripe
bounced off the rim into Mike Baker's hands and he was
immediately fouled, giving F&M two more shots. Baker drained
both and Steve Tolliver added a layup with four seconds remaining,
giving the Diplomats a six-point advantage. The Blue Jays hit a
trey as time expired resulting in the 53-50 final.
McNally scored a team-high 14 points and pulled down eight
rebounds. McNally shot 7-for-12 from the floor and picked up three
steals. Brooks added 13 points, shooting 50% from floor and Steve
Tolliver contributed 12 points for the Diplomats.

scored a game-high 15 points while Pat O'Connell and Miller
had 12 and 11 points respectively.
F&M held a 34-28 advantage on the boards and picked up five
blocks in the contest.
