LANCASTER, Pa. - The game appeared to be heading into overtime
until Nancy
Epstein capitalize on a shot from 25 yards out to put the first
point of the game on the board. The goal stood as the game-winner
as F&M defeated York 1-0 in non-conference women's soccer
action Wednesday afternoon.
Less than six minutes remaining Epstein beat her defender and
managed to get a solid kick on the ball, landing it past the goalie
in the right side of the net. Epstein created her open shot by
dribbling the ball down the left side of the field with quick
footwork and agility.
York outshot F&M 10-9 but freshman goalkeeper Hannah Barry
denied them the net. Barry stepped up in the goal box and got her
hands on six of the shots. York's best chance to score came in the
26th minute when Paige Yeager took an aggressive shot from five
yards out, hitting it directly to Barry.
The non-conference game improves the Diplomats record to 6-3
while the Spartans drop to 4-7-1.
Franklin & Marshall returns to Tylus Field on October 6
against McDaniel. The Centennial Conference matchup will begin at
noon.
