HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Franklin &
Marshall women's basketball team used a balanced offense,
with six players scoring eight or more points, en route to a 72-34
victory over the Owls in Centennial Conference (CC) play on
Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats snapped a two-game losing skid
and improved to 10-13, 6-12 CC while Bryn Mawr fell to 2-20, 0-18
CC.
F&M controlled the first eight minutes of action going on an
8-0 run and never looked back. Six of those points came from Alexa
Barbush, who scored all of her eight points in the first five
minutes. The team tallied 21 points off of Bryn Mawr turnovers in
the first half and went into the break with a 40-24 lead over the
Owls.
The Diplomats jumped to a 49-27 lead half way through the second
period, setting the tempo for the remainder of the game. F&M
out-scored the Owls 23-7 in the final 10 minutes, receiving nine
points from Elizabeth Snyder and eight from Allison Bauer. The blue
and white collected 33 points from the bench -24 of which came in
the second half- and each member of the Diplomat squad contributed
a point.
F&M held a slight 37-36 edge over Bryn Mawr in rebounding,
but capitalized on second-chance scoring opportunities, producing
11 points. The Owls shot eight percent in the second half and just
under 24 percent overall.
Shanika Bridges-King lead Bryn Mawr with 11 points and two
steals.
Megan Pauley recorded a game-high 16 points and shot
eight-for-eight from the free throw line for the Diplomats.
Elizabeth Snyder chipped in nine points and Bauer totaled 11 points
and two steals.
F&M returns home on Wednesday to host a double-header versus
Johns Hopkins. The women's team tips-off at 6 p.m., followed
by the men at 8 p.m.
