ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Muhlenberg limited Franklin & Marshall to only two runs over two games as the Mules swept the Diplomats in a Centennial Conference (CC) softball double header on Saturday. Muhlenberg took the first game 5-2 and the second 8-0, as the Diplomats fell to 5-5, 1-3 CC.

Liz Chudzik registered the first run of game one in the second frame off of a sacrifice fly from Kelly Marchisio. The Mules (6-9, 2-2 CC) did not answer until the fifth, nabbing two runs and putting Muhlenberg on top. The squad added three more runs in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead.

The Diplomats scored another run in the top of the seventh. Alyssa Yackle doubled to left field to plate Julianne Whitleigh, but the three-run deficit proved too much to overcome.

Whitleigh went 1-for-2 at the plate and Yackle collected two RBIs. Liz Chudzik took the loss, allowing five hits and walking five. She struck out two.

Alyssa Bruckner earned the win, striking out two and allowing five hits.

In game two the Mules did not allow any F&M runs. The squad tallied its first four runs in the first frame and picked up two more in the second. Muhlenberg added a run in the fourth and a final run in the fifth to end the game and complete the sweep.

Yackle registered the lone hit for F&M. Sara Damato took the loss, allowing nine hits and striking out two.

Ashley Brewer earned the win, fanning four batters.

The Diplomats host a double header with conference foe Ursinus on April 3. The first game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
