WESTMINSTER, Md. – No. 2 Franklin & Marshall opened a 7-1 lead in the first half and hung on for a 12-5 win at McDaniel on Wednesday.

Meredith Lussier got the F&M (6-1, 2-0 CC) offense started with the first of her four goals five minutes in. Blake Hargest followed on with back-to-back quick sticks to give F&M a fast 3-0 jump. Hargest scored three goals and assisted on three more in the victory.

 McDaniel (6-3, 0-2 CC), which had knocked off the only two ranked opponents faced this season, watched F&M build a 7-0 lead before breaking through with 24 seconds left in the first half. Brittany Lines' goal marked the first against the Diplomats in 91:59 of lacrosse, a stretch spanning three games..

Diplomats' keeper, Lidia Sanza, was otherwise stellar, stopping 12 shots to preserve the win. The Diplomats defense managed to keep the Green Terror's leading scorer, Brittany Baer off of the scoreboard. It marked only the second time in her career that Baer was held without a point. The other time was F&M's visit in 2008.

Erin Dunne added three goals and an assist in the victory. She also scooped a pair of ground balls.

Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Saturday against Ursinus. The opening draw, the first at F&M in five games, is set for 1:00 p.m.
