Kings Point, N.Y. -- Four players scored in double-figures to lead #18 Franklin & Marshall to a 91-77 victory over Oneonta in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament Friday. The Diplomats (24-4) advance to second round and will take on the U.S. Merchant Marines at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow. F&M's 91 points was the most scored on the Red Dragons (23-6) this season.

The game started out slow as both teams settled in. The Diplomats held a slight lead, 10-8, five minutes into the contest before F&M's offense kicked into gear. The Diplomats went on a 12-5 run spanning five minutes to take a nine-point lead, 22-13, halfway through the opening stanza.

Oneonta answered with a 12-3 run, spanning three minutes, to take a one-point lead. James McNally hit two free-throws with 4:33 remaining to put the Diplomats back on top and Justin Driver scored four points over the final four minutes to give F&M a 39-35 lead at the break.

An Anthony Brooks-led 23-11 run put the Diplomats up 17 points, 75-58, with 7:04 left in the contest. Brooks scored six, of his 19 points in the run. He finished shooting 50% from the floor and 4-for-5 from the line.

The Red Dragons tried to mount a comeback, but only came within 11 points the remainder of the game.

McNally scored a game-high 26-points on 9-for-16 shooting. He finished one-board shy of a double-double, collecting nine. Mike Baker and Driver were the other two Diplomats in double-figures. Baker finished with 15 points and Driver contributed 12.

F&M shot 92% from the stripe in the second half and outshot the Red Dragons 76%-65% throughout the game.

Glenn Robinson moved up on the all-time NCAA wins lists. He tied Lute Olson at the 14th spot with 780 wins.

Oneonta had three players score in double-digits. Brian Beckford had a team-high 19 points and Brian Hooks knocked in 18. Troy Talbot contributed 16 points for the Red Dragons.
