LANCASTER, Pa. – Gettysburg went on late
runs in both games to pull away from Franklin & Marshall and
nab victories in a Centennial Conference (CC) softball double
header on Thursday. The Bullets (16-11-1, 8-4 CC) won the first
game 11-2 and took the second game 10-3. The Diplomats now sit at

In game one the two clubs exchanged runs to start things off.
Gettysburg notched a run in the first frame and F&M followed
suit. With the bases loaded, Alyssa Yackle was hit by Lanie Parr's
pitch and Julianne Whitleigh was sent home.
The Bullets scored another run in the second and the Diplomats
countered in the third. Caitlin Elfring hit a double to left field
and Whitleigh scored her second and F&M's final run to tie the
contest 2-2. Gettysburg tacked on one run in the fourth and two in
the fifth and sixth each, before tallying four runs in the seventh
for a final score of 11-2.

hits.

Gettysburg got on the board first in game two with a run in the
first and third frames. The Diplomats remained scoreless until the
fourth when Elfring slammed a triple to right field to plate
Chudzik and bring the score to 2-1.
Exploding with eight runs in the top of the fifth, the Bullets
proved too much for F&M. In a final effort, Amanda Schellaci
tripled to right field and was sent home by Danielle Murphy in the
bottom of the fifth. Megan Pauley then singled up the middle and
Murphy touched home for the Diplomats' ultimate run.
The game was called due to darkness after the fifth frame with a
10-3 score in favor of Gettysburg.
Beth McCullough won game two, retiring 10 batters and allowing
six hits.
Chudzik was stuck with the loss, allowing five hits.
Murphy led the Diplomats with a run and an RBI on the day and
