SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Limiting Franklin & Marshall to four hits in two games, Kathryn Riley picked up a pair of wins for Swarthmore in a Centennial Conference (CC) softball double header Saturday afternoon. The Garnet and Riley, who has held opponents to only 103 hits on the year, improved to 15-17, 7-5 CC, as the Diplomats fell to 8-14, 2-10 CC.

In the first frame of game one, Megan Pauley got on first with a walk and stole second. Caitlin Elfring registered the lone hit of the game with a single up the middle to send Pauley to third.

Neither squad could get on the board until Swarthmore tallied two runs in the bottom of the second. Tacking on four more runs in the third, Krista Scheirer doubled down the left line with the bases loaded to pick up two RBIs and put the Garnet on top 6-0.

Liz Chudzik took the loss, allowing four hits and walking six.

Riley earned the win, retiring 12 batters and walking two.

Pauley got F&M moving immediately in game two. She hit a double to center field and stole third but the Diplomats could not get on the board. Swarthmore opened up the first with an eight-run barrage. Riley picked up two RBIs when she singled up the middle and sent home Kate Smayda and Angelica Sanchez.

The Garnet picked up their final run in the fourth as Scheirer homered to center field.

Sara Damato took the loss. She allowed eight hits and Karalynne Clark allowed two.

Riley nabbed her second win of the day, striking out eight and allowing three hits.

F&M hosts Elizabethtown on Tuesday, April 20 for a non-conference match-up. The first game is slated for 3:30 p.m.
