NCAA F&M Regional Round

NCAA Live Bracket

The last time Franklin & Marshall played lacrosse on graduation day was pretty special. The Diplomats' pregame included parking themselves in a conference room in Salem, Virginia, and watching commencement live via webcast. F&M went out that night, defeated Hamilton in the NCAA Division III Semifinals, and then followed on Sunday by winning the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championship. After the trophy was hoisted on Sunday, Franklin & Marshall President John Fry conferred the final degrees upon the class of 2009.

Before the Diplomats start defending the 2009 title, Fry will hand out six more degrees to Franklin & Marshall lacrosse players. Then it's go time for the title defense. The Diplomats open with Brockport State, first round winners over Rowan by a score of 16-9. The Eagles are making their first NCAA appearance. Opening draw is set for 1:30 pm.

The Diplomats are undefeated in NCAA home games played in Lancaster, sporting a record of 7-0. The Diplomats' seniors enter the weekend with a record of 33-1 in home games during their careers and have won 14-straight on Tylus Field.

If you can't be in Lancaster, you can follow all three NCAA Regional Round games with free video and live stats. Game notes are also available, field policies, and ticket prices are also available on the NCAA Regional Round page on GoDiplomats.com.

The winner of the F&M/Brockport semifinal will take on the winner of the Elizabethtown/Mary Washington semifinal. Elizabethtown is also making its first NCAA appearance. The Jays were 13-12 winners at W&L in a late-night affair. The contest was bumped from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm because of thunderstorms. Once underway, lightning halted play in the second half. The final horn was not sounded until after 11:00 pm.

Mary Washington raced past Drew on Wednesday to earn their way into the Regional Round. The Eagles posted an 18-8 win.

Sunday's Regional Final is slated for 2:00 pm. The winner on Sunday will advance to the NCAA National Championship Semifinals at Gettysburg next weekend.
