Box Score 2 Diplomats Split Opening Day at Rhodes Tournament
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Franklin & Marshall volleyball
team split matches at the first day of the Rhodes Tournament in
Memphis. The Diplomats defeated Webster and fell to Birmingham
Southern. The split put F&M at 3-3 for the season.
In the first match of the day, F&M faced Birmingham Southern
losing three straight sets (17-25, 19-25, 23-25). Despite the loss,
several Diplomats made key contributions to the game. Offensively
the Diplomats were led by sophomore Candice Tussing who recorded
seven kills and 13 digs. Teammate Kerry Rom had 14 digs, two aces
and three kills. Pam Horner finished with 17 assists and ten
digs.
Horner led the Diplomats in the second round of play posting 35
assists, three kills, 14 digs, and a service ace. Rom also had a
well-rounded game recording 12 kills and 12 digs. Also contributing
to the victory was Tusssing with 14 kills and five aces. Katy May
also recorded 11 digs.
F&M will return to action tomorrow afternoon against Rhodes
beginning at 2 PM.
