Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – No spin here. The O'Reilly Factor was in
full effect in Lancaster Tuesday evening as Franklin & Marshall
handed Alvernia a 3-2 setback in the Diplomats home opener.
F&M senior Eileen
O'Reilly had a hand in all three goals of the evening.
O'Reilly's breakaway goal at 58:13 sealed the victory for the
Diplomats (2-0). That tally came almost three minutes after
she assisted Allison
McLaren for the go-ahead goal at 55:24. O'Reilly also had role
in F&M's first goal of the night when
Becky Willert
collected her rebound and found the back right corner of cage for
the score.
The Crusaders (1-1) struck first, when Samantha Landis took a
feed from Christy Yousaitis off a corner and found the back of the
net in the eighth minute. Neither team scored for the next 41
minutes before Willert knotted the game at one. F&M went up 2-1
on McLaren's goal before Tonya Rutt tied the game in the
57th minute, setting up O'Reilly's game-winner.
F&M held an 18-10 advantage in shots while the Crusaders
held a 9-8 edge in corners.
Abby Eby took the loss. Eby stopped eight shots and falls to
1-1.
Sarah
Dileo picked up her second win of the year. Dileo collected
five saves in the contest.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Sunday when the
Diplomats host Eastern Mennonite at 1:00 PM.
