Box Score BALTIMORE – Mike Baker scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 10 boards to lead No. 22 Franklin & Marshall to a 86-55 victory over Johns Hopkins Thursday evening in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The double-double was the fifth for Baker this season.
The game started out slow as both team settled in. F&M (14-4, 9-2 CC) held a 13-12 lead almost eight minutes into the contest. Georgio Milligan scored four points in a 12-0 Diplomats' run as F&M went up 24-12 at 8:17. Johns Hopkins (4-14, 2-9 CC) came within seven points, 30-23, at 3:19 before the Diplomats closed out the half with a 8-4 run to go into the break with a 38-27 edge.
F&M came out of the gates strong in the second stanza outscoring the Blue Jays 11-4 to take a 49-31 edge almost four minutes into the half. The Diplomats maintained at least a 17-point lead the remainder of the game and led by as much as 31.
Milligan netted 16 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Hayk Gyokchyan finished with 14 points and six boards. Brandon Beckford added 10 while Matt Porter dropped in nine points for the Diplomats.
John Alberici paced Hopkins with 15 points while Aleksander Nikolic ended with 11.
F&M outshot Johns Hopkins 51% to 40% and finished with 12 steals resulting in 22 points.
Coach Glenn Robinson is four victories away from becoming only the 13th coach in NCAA history to reach the 800-win plateau. Robinson is also four games shy from coaching in his 1,100 contest in his 40 years at F&M.
