Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa.—Spencer Plante scored the first goal of her collegiate career on Saturday, as Franklin & Marshall defeated Muhlenberg 1-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action. With the win, the Diplomats improve to 6-4-1, 4-3 CC; while the Mules fall to 6-7-2, 3-3-1 CC.
Plante's goal came in the 25th minute, when she stole the ball from the Mules, and fired the ball into the net near the back post.
The Mules had several chances throughout the game to score the equalizer, but were thwarted by the play of F&M keeper Amanda McGowan, who made seven saves in recording her sixth shutout of the season.
Six different Diplomats had shots on goal in the contest. Plante, Carley Nicholson, Stephanie Bartner, Libby Nichols, Bailey Huber, and Alexa Yarish each tallied one shot.
Muhlenberg outshot the Diplomats 14-13 overall, and 7-6 in shots on goal. The Mules also held a 6-1 advantage in corners.
F&M will return to action on Wednesday, when the Diplomats play host to Richard Stockton in a nonconference matchup. Game time is 4 p.m.
