CHESTERTOWN, Md.—Franklin & Marshall swept a pair of matches at Washington College on Saturday.  The Diplomats began the day by defeating the host Shorewomen in a Centennial Conference (CC) match, 3-0 before defeating Catholic University in a nonconference affair by the same score.

In the first match, the Diplomats (15-10, 7-1 CC) scored the last ten points to take the opening set 25-23.  The second set went back and forth before F&M finally prevailed, 30-28.  In the third set, the Diplomats jumped out to an early lead, and cruised to a 25-14 victory.  With the win, the Diplomats clinched a spot in the CC tournament.

Julie Harvey led the F&M offense with 20 kills, her highest total for a three-set match this season, and tallied a .459 hitting percentage.  Defensively, Katy Med led the way with 10 digs.  Lis Power and Caitlin Krutsick also had strong defensive games with nine digs each.  The Diplomats also recorded five service aces.

In the second match against Catholic, the Diplomats controlled play from start to finish, taking the three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-15, and 25-21.

Harvey notched 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage to pace the offense.  May led the defense with 16 digs.  Caroline Hubbard recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 31 assists and 10 digs.

F&M plays its final road match of the regular season on Monday, when the Diplomats take on cross-town rival Elizabethtown in a non-conference showdown.  The match begins at 7 p.m.
