Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Georgio Milligan scored 16 points to lead No. 17 Franklin & Marshall to 64-46 victory over Oneonta to win the Lancaster Rotary – F&M Tip-Off Tournament.
Milligan was named the tournament's MVP for the third consecutive year while the Diplomats won its annual tip-off tournament for the 24th time. The senior finished with six boards, four steals and shot 6-for-12 from the floor.
The game started out slow as both teams settle in. Oneonta jumped out to a 4-0 lead, before F&M (2-0) scored four straight to tie the game at four. The teams traded buckets over the next four minutes for a 6-6 score at 12:28. F&M went on a 26-12 run over the next nine minutes to take a commanding 32-18 lead at 3:15.
Oneonta (1-1) answered with a 12-2 run to close out the half for a 34-26 halftime score.
The Diplomats came out strong in the second half, going on a 15-6 run for a 17-point, 49-32, edge with 10:45 remaining. F&M maintained the double-digit lead for the remainder of the game, and led by as much as 18 points.
Jon Salandra scored 11 points and had five steals to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Matt Porter netted nine and Hayk Gyokchyan pulled down a game-high 11 boards.
F&M held a 43-32 edge on the glass, pulling down 30 on the offensive side, resulting in nine second-chance points.
The Diplomats return to action on Tuesday when F&M opens its conference slate at Washington College at 7:30 p.m.
