Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Georgio Milligan scored a game-high 18 points to lead No. 14 Franklin & Marshall to a 63-46 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Saturday evening. The Diplomats improved to 7-0, 3-0 CC while the Green Terror fell to 3-4, 1-2 CC.
It was a slow start for the first seven minutes of action with the Diplomats holding an 11-2 edge at 12:49. McDaniel scored nine unanswered points to tie the game at 11-11 with 8:40 left in the first half. That was as close as the Green Terror would get as F&M outscored McDaniel 18-6 through the final eight minutes of the first half to take a 29-17 lead into the break.
The Diplomats continued their dominance, opening the second half with an 11-4 run to take a 38-21 lead at 15:53. McDaniel got within 15 points, 42-27, at 11:32 before F&M countered with a 9-4 run to take its largest lead of the game, 51-31, at 8:28. The Diplomats led by as much as 19 points the remainder of the game and never dropped their lead below 12.
Milligan shot 7-for-9 from the floor and went 3-for-5 from the stripe for his seventh straight double-figure performance. Jon Salandra added 12 points, six boards and three steals. Brandon Beckford dropped in 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting. Matt Porter tallied seven, Hayk Gyokchyan finished with six and Xavier Braham scored four points for the Diplomats.
Cullen Murray-Kemp was the only Green Terror in double-figures with 13 points.
F&M outshot McDaniel 53% to 34% and held a 31-24 advantage on the glass.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M travels to Gettysburg for an 8:00 p.m. game. F&M will travel to Haverford on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. to wrap up the 2011 portion on its schedule.
