Dickinson Edges Diplomats; Season Ends

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson swept Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference doubleheader Tuesday which ended F&M's season. The Red Devils needed 10 innings to edge the Diplomats 1-0 in the first game before squeaking out a 2-0 decision in the second game. Dickinson locked up the No. 1 in the CC playoffs by improving to 12-4 CC, 18-15 overall while the Diplomats finished sixth in the conference at 8-8, 22-13-1.

Franklin & Marshall needed to sweep Dickinson, and get some help, to advance to the Centennial Conference playoffs.

The Diplomats went hitless in the first six innings in game one. The Diplomats broke up Allison Jordan's no-no in the seventh when Alicia Kukoda singled to left but Kukoda was left stranded.

F&M had their best chance of putting a run on the board in the eighth. Kaitlin Zampino gave F&M its second hit with a single to center and Rachel Laufer pinch ran for Zampino. Laufer moved to second on Caitlin Brust's single before a double steal put them in scoring position with one out. A pop up and strike out by the next two F&M batters ended the threat.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the tenth when Carly Jordan's game-winning single plated Jess Haklar, who started the inning on second, from third.

Allison Jordan improved to 10-6 for Dickinson while Allie McQuaide (6-1) took her first loss of the season for F&M.

The second game resembled the first with both teams going scoreless through five innings. The Red Devils scored two in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI double by Alesha Sisco.

Allison Jordan earned the win by scattering two hits and striking out seven.
