No. 5 F&M Downs Dickinson in OT

Box Score

CARLISLE, Pa. - Kristen Zublin finished a feed from Chelsey Talhelm in overtime to give the No. 5 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Dickinson in its regular season finale on Saturday in Centennial Conference (CC) action.

The Diplomats (16-1, 10-0) have now won 16 consecutive games and complete an unbeaten CC regular season for the second straight year, while the Red Devils see their season come to a close at 7-11, 2-8 CC.

Dickinson jumped out of the gates firing as the Red Devils converted two of their five first-half shots to take a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime. Tanya Bellingham made it 1-0 in the 15th minute with an unassisted tally, while Alyssa Stillwell found the back of the cage off an assist from Natalie Polk in the 31st minute to give the Red Devils a two-goal cushion.

Facing its largest deficit of the season, F&M came storming back after the intermission. Maura Hennigan registered a pair of unassisted scores within a seven-minute span early in the second half to even the count at 2-2.

After a scoreless final 20 minutes, the two sides headed into overtime. Just over seven minutes into the extra session, Zublin one-timed a cross from Talhelm to give the Diplomats the dramatic victory.

Goalkeeper Avery Koep turned back five shots to earn the win between the pipes for F&M, while Dickinson's Katy Schlechtweg registered eight saves in the loss.

The Diplomats had the edge in both shots (16-12) and penalty corners (10-5).

F&M will host next weekend's CC tournament at Tylus Field for the second straight year. The top-seeded Diplomats will face off against the winner of Wednesday's matchup between fourth-seeded Ursinus and fifth-seeded Washington College.
