PRINCETON, N.J. - No. 7 Franklin & Marshall dropped a 9-0 decision to top-ranked and defending national champion Princeton on Saturday. The Diplomats fall to 1-1 with the loss, while the Tigers open the year at 1-0.
The Tigers secured straight-game victories in seven of the nine matches en route to the shutout win.
Jack Cutler stretched his opponent, David Hoffman, to five games at No. 7, and Dylan Cunningham fell in four sets at No. 8. Cutler bounced back from a 2-0 deficit by taking games three and four, but ultimately lost 11-8, 11-6, 6-11, 7-11, 11-8. Cunningham handed Vivek Dinodia a 13-11 loss in the second game, before dropping the final two games for a final of 11-4, 11-13, 11-3, 11-4.
F&M returns home tomorrow for a matchup opposite No. 22 Connecticut College at 11:00 a.m.
