Diplomats Dominate Mules

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Erin Dunne tallied seven goals to lead No. 8 Franklin & Marshall to an 18-9 victory over Muhlenberg Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action. The Diplomats improved to 4-1 (1-0 CC) while the Mules fell to 3-1 (0-1 CC).

Each team scored three goals in the opening ten minutes of action. Ali Kelly put F&M up 1-0, scoring from a feed by Lauren Ehrhardt, but the Mules answered minutes later and tied the game at one. Dunne scored her first goal of the game on a free position a minute and 27 seconds later, before Muhlenberg again answered and tied the game at two at 23:48. Dunne fed Ehrhardt to put the Diplomats back up a score, but Molly Davin netted one for Muhlenberg to even the game at three at 20:10.

The Diplomats rallied with three unanswered points with goals by Dune, Kelly, and Mary Mitchell to take a 6-3 edge midway through the opening period. Muhlenberg responded with a 3-1 scoring run to tie the game at seven with 6:13 remaining until halftime. F&M countered with two straight goals to go into the break with a 9-7 advantage.

F&M came out of the break with five goals in the first 12 minutes of action to blow the game wide open and take a 14-7 advantage at 18:07. Davin scored two straight for the Mules before F&M finished the game with four tallies in the last six minutes of action to come away with the victory.

Lauren Selawski finished with two goals and two assists. Dunne and Ehrhardt both dished out two helpers while Maggie Mae Shields and Jordan Quinn tallied a goal apiece.

Christie Bonfigilio finished with a team-high three groundballs and Kara Stanley picked up five draw controls.

Kelsey Hoffman earned the win with seven saves while Tiffany Kreider took the loss for the Mules.

F&M returns to action on Tuesday when the Diplomats host Messiah at 4:00 p.m.
