Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Caroline Krohn, Ali Kelly, Mary Mitchell and Brittney Jorgenson all picked up hat tricks to lead No. 7 Franklin & Marshal to a 16-11 victory over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats (13-3, 8-1 CC) will begin their CC title defense next Saturday when F&M takes on Washington in the first round of the CC Championships in Gettysburg.
F&M struck early and often and jumped out to a 2-0 lead five minutes into the game. Kelly scored the first goal of the game and Kara Stanley buried a Kelly pass for the second score at 25:01. The Red Devils (8-8, 4-5 CC) got on the board at 21:42 to make it 2-1 before the Diplomats rattled off four straight to go up 6-1 at 13:52. Kelly picked up her second score to start the run while Jorgenson, Krohn and Casey Madden all netted goals for the Diplomats.
Dickinson countered with two unanswered points to come within three, 6-3, but F&M matched the Red Devils with two of their own to go into the break with an 8-3 edge. Kelly completed her hat trick with a score at 3:39 off a feed from Mitchell and Krohn scored unassisted with 43 seconds left before the break.
The Diplomats went up 10-3 in the opening five minutes of the second with goals by Mitchell and Christie Bonfiglio. Taryn Abbassian netted a goal for the Red Devils to make it 10-4 at 23:20, but Mitchell deposited a Krohn pass 47 seconds later to put F&M back up seven. The Red Devils made it 11-5 before Jorgenson scored two straight to put F&M up 15-6. Dickinson added another score at 18:01, but Mitchell and Krohn scored 2:06 apart to give F&M 15-6 edge with 11:33 left to play.
Dickinson put together a 5-0 run to come within four, 15-11, but F&M used good time management down the stretch and Kara Stanley scored on a free position with 1:07 left to make 16-11.
Krohn added four assists to finish with seven points and Ali Kelly assisted on two scores for five points.
Mitchell came away with four draws and caused three turnovers and Madden finished with three draw controls. Anne Brockmeyer caused four turnovers and collected four groundballs to lead the F&M defense.
Kelsey Hoffman picked up 11 saves and improved to 13-3 while Amanda Morse took the defeat with 12 stops.
