LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall fell to Swarthmore 2-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday at Tylus Field. The Diplomats drop to 0-2-2 overall and 0-1 in CC play, while the Garnet improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the CC.

Scoring opportunities were few and far between in the opening 15 minutes, as neither side was able to produce a shot early on. Swarthmore's Melissa Trofa changed that in the 17th minute as she buried a lofted shot into the upper-right corner netting off a feed from Emma Sindelar to give the Garnet a 1-0 edge.

Sindelar added a score of her own just after halftime to give Swarthmore its final 2-0 margin of victory.

F&M was able to push forward, maintain possession in the Swarthmore half of the field and create several dangerous looks at the net down the stretch, but were unable to slip anything past the Garnet defense. Carley Nicholson delivered the closest look at goal for the Diplomats with a free-kick blast from about 30 yards out that ricocheted off the crossbar in the 51st minute.

Goalkeeper Amanda McGowan notched three saves in a losing effort. Swarthmore's Reba Magier turned away one F&M shot in 61:38 minutes of action before being relieved by Kaitlyn Sipiora in the final 28:22 of play.

The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday at McDaniel in their CC road opener. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
