HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team fell to Juniata and No. 23 Salisbury on the last day of the Juniata Invitational Saturday afternoon in Huntingdon, Pa.  The Diplomats fought hard against No. 15 Juniata but lost 3-1 before dropping straight sets to Salisbury 3-0.  The non-conference matches bring F&M's record to 7-10 on the season.

In the first match of the day against Juniata, the Diplomats pulled out the first-set win in thrilling fashion, taking the 1-0 lead with a 27-25 score.  The Eagles fought back in the second set to even up the match 1-1 with a 25-18 win.  In the third F&M battled Juniata the entire set, eventually dropping the frame by a score of 25-22 to fall behind 2-1 in the match.  The Eagles were too much for the Diplomats in the fourth set as Juniata took the match 3-1 with a 25-17 score.  The victory improved Juniata's record to 10-5 on the season, while the Diplomats fell to 7-9.

Kerry Rom led the offense with 10 kills, while Sydney Seydel chipped in nine.  Caroline Hubbard tallied 30 assists during the match. Hubbard earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team with her play over the weekend.  Four Diplomats registered double-digit digs with Alyssa Sanchez leading the way with 15.  As a team F&M tallied 41 kills, 38 assists and 63 digs.

Against Salisbury, the Diplomats found themselves in an early 1-0 hole after the Sea Gulls fired out of the gates with a 25-8 win in the first set.  In the second frame F&M battled Salisbury, but dropped the set by a score of 25-17.  The Sea Gulls were too much for the Diplomats to handle in the third, earning a 25-10 set win. The victory improved Salisbury's record to 18-1 on the year.

Hubbard led the offense with nine assists, while Sanchez paced the defense with 13 digs.

The Diplomats return to the court this Wednesday in Centennial Conference action with a matchup at home against Swarthmore.  The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
