Diplomats Defeat Owls

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team defeated Bryn Mawr 3-1 on the road Saturday in Centennial Conference (CC) action.  With the victory, the Diplomats remain undefeated in CC play and improve to 9-10, 3-0 CC on the season.  The Owls drop to 5-10, 1-2 CC.

F&M dominated the first set with a 25-13 win.  In the opening frame, the Diplomats recorded 15 digs on 33 total attacks.  In the second, F&M took a 2-0 advantage in the match with a 25-18 victory.  Bryn Mawr battled back in the third to avoid the sweep, handing the Diplomats a 25-20 set loss.  Up 2-1, F&M quickly recovered by taking the fourth set 25-21 to earn its ninth win of the season.  The Diplomats saved their best set for last, recording 12 kills and only two errors in the frame. 

Kerry Rom, Sydney Seydel and Rosalie Frank recorded eight kills apiece to pace the offense.  Caroline Hubbard chipped in 18 assists, while Meghan Hubert added 15.  Rom led the defense with 10 digs.

As a team, F&M tallied 48 kills and 58 digs on the match.  The Diplomats were strong from the serve position, registering nine aces on the day.

F&M returns to the court this Wednesday at the Mayser Center with a match against CC opponent Johns Hopkins.  The contest is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
