Diplomats Downed by McDaniel

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall battled McDaniel in a close 60-57 loss in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Mayser Center. The Diplomats fell to 6-11, 3-9 CC, while McDaniel improved to 7-9, 4-8 CC.

F&M held the lead throughout the game and was on top by as many as nine points, until a Green Terror jumper with 2:36 remaining in the second half gave McDaniel the 53-51 advantage.

On the following possession, Elizabeth Snyder was fouled and landed both shots from the free-throw line to tie the game at 53-53.

The Diplomats regained the lead when Alexa Barbush stole a Green Terror pass at the 2:10 mark and led a fast-break opportunity that resulted in a Kristina McCarthy layup at the other end. The junior forward's basket put F&M up 55-53 with only 2:05 left.

McDaniel fired back with a 7-0 run to retake the lead and put the Diplomats in a five-point hole at 60-55 with just six seconds remaining in the contest. Barbush landed a layup as time expired, but the deficit proved too large to overcome for F&M.

Three Diplomats finished in double-figure scoring, led by 19 from Barbush and 18 from Snyder. McCarthy recorded her fifth double-double of the season, going for 16 points and 10 rebounds. Emma Lisle also added 10 boards for F&M.

Three Green Terror players finished in double figures as well, led by 18 from Emma Wingerd. Steph Perez added 16, while Brittney Davis tacked on 11.

Under the basket, the Diplomats dominated scoring with a 36-14 points in the paint advantage over McDaniel.  The Green Terror received plenty of help from their bench on the day, outscoring F&M's reserves 23-2.

The Diplomats take to the road on Wednesday to face off against Johns Hopkins in CC-action. The contest is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
