NEW HAVEN, Conn. - No. 7 Franklin & Marshall defeated No. 11 Williams 8-1 to conclude a busy weekend of men's squash action at the Yale Round Robin. The Diplomats have now won five straight and improve to 9-3 with the victory, while the Ephs fall to 8-8.
The Diplomats won multiple highly-contested matchups, including both of the matches that went to five games. At the No. 2 spot, Mauricio Sedano dropped Nicholas Marks 12-10, 11-4, 7-11, 9-11, 11-9, while Pedro Veigas de Almeida edged Alex Greaves-Tunnell at No. 4 11-7, 8-11, 7-11, 11-3, 11-9.
At No. 8, Brian Henry made quick work of Rohan Paranjoe with scores of 11-4, 11-7, 11-9, while No. 7 Dylan Cunningham also rolled to a straight-game win over Ryan Eagan 11-8, 13-11, 11-4.
No. 1 Guilherme de Melo topped Kevin Chen in four games, 11-3, 13-11, 11-13, 11-9, while No. 5 Alex Arjoon recovered from a game one loss to win in four over Julian Drobetsky, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-9. No. 6 Antonio De La Torre and No. 9 Pat Cunningham also earned victories in four games, with De La Torre dropping Michael Patrick 11-6, 6-11, 11-5, 11-2, and Cunningham turning back Galen Squires 11-5, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6.
The Diplomats return to action Saturday at Hamilton.
