Diplomats Dropped by Bullets

Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – A late second-half goal broke a scoreless game and handed Franklin & Marshall a 1-0 loss to Gettysburg on Tuesday evening in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action.

The Diplomats fell to 5-6-3, 3-3-2 while the Bullets improved to 12-1-3 and maintained their lead atop the conference at 7-1-1.

Tied at 0-0 in the 76th minute of the second half, Gettysburg's Georgia Ferguson took a pass from the left side of the field and fired a shot in the box past F&M goalkeeper Amanda McGowan for the decisive goal.

McGowan (5-6-3) played well between the pipes, recording three saves on the contest while Eliza Gray (12-1-3) turned back both shots she faced to earn the shutout win for the Bullets.

The first half saw limited action from both sides as each squad managed a mere two shots after 45 minutes of play. The Bullets captured momentum in the second, outshooting the Diplomats 5-1 on their way to the game-winner.

Brianna Reid, Spencer Plante and Nicole Rynecki each registered a shot on goal for F&M, while four of Gettysburg's seven shots came courtesy of Ferguson. The Bullets held the edge on corners at 2-0, with both occurring in the second half.

The Diplomats return to the field on Saturday when F&M travels to Dickinson for a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
