HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 15 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team opened up its 2013 season with a 9-0 victory over No. 31 Haverford on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 1-0 on the year, while the Fords fell to 1-1.
F&M captured each of the nine spots in straight games for the shutout.
Roxanna Mead picked up her first win of the season from the No. 1 spot with a convincing 11-5, 11-5, 11-3 victory, while Kate O'Brien started off her F&M career with an 11-1, 11-5, 11-3 win from the No. 2 position.
Cris Margaret Frias Gonzalez took down Isabel Agnew at No. 3 with an 11-3, 11-0, 11-5 drubbing, while Jazmin Matos was strong at No. 4 with an 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 win.
The Diplomats 7-9 players each cruised to victory with Krista Lancione dominating Rachel Garnick at No. 7 (11-1, 11-1, 11-2), Dana Rapisarda winning easily at No. 8 (11-2, 11-1, 11-1) and Molly Gilmore defeating Allison Kandel at No. 9 (11-2, 11-1, 11-0).
The Diplomats return to the court on Friday when F&M travels to take on Drexel at 6:00 p.m.
