NEW HAVEN, Conn. - No. 7 Franklin & Marshall dropped an 8-1 decision to defending national champion and No. 2 Princeton on Friday in the opening round of the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships. With the defeat, the Diplomats (16-5) slide into the consolation side of the Potter Cup (A Division) bracket, while the Tigers (11-2) advance to the semifinals against No. 3 Harvard.

No. 6 Alex Arjoon notched the only F&M win of the day as the sophomore downed Taylor Tutrone with a come-from-behind five-game victory. Arjoon dropped the opening two games 9-11, 10-12, before bouncing back with 11-4, 11-9, 11-6 triumphs in the final three frames to secure his 12th win of the year and ninth in a row.

While the Tigers were able to capture four of the top five spots in straight games, F&M No. 2 Mauricio Sedano and the positions 7-9 in the Diplomats lineup put up stiff tests to their Princeton counterparts. Sedano took the first game from Samuel Kang, but fell 9-11, 11-0, 11-7, 11-4, while Jack Cutler (No.7), Brian Henry (No. 8), and Pat Cunningham (No. 9) each lost tight four-gamers.

Cutler dropped a 7-11, 12-10, 11-4, 11-5 decision to Vivek Dinodia to snap an 11-match winning streak, Brian Henry saw his 14-match winning streak come to an end with an 11-7, 7-11, 12-10, 11-8 setback to David Hoffman, and Pat Cunningham fell for the first time in nine matches with an 11-7, 11-9, 12-14, 11-8 loss to Michael LeBlanc.

The Diplomats will meet No. 6 Rochester in the consolation semifinals tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
