WASHINGTON, D.C. - No. 7 Franklin & Marshall won its 11th straight match with a 9-0 blanking of No. 17 George Washington on Friday night in men's squash action. The Diplomats improve to 15-3 with the win, while the Colonials drop to 10-8.
Six Diplomats registered straight-game victories in the shutout win. No. 9 Brian Henry extended his winning streak to a team-high 12 matches with an 11-3, 11-3, 11-5 win over Chris Bell, while No. 4 Pedro Veiga de Almeida and No. 7 Jack Cutler both captured their ninth straight victories. Veiga de Almeida defeated Larkin Brinworth 11-4, 11-7, 11-6, while Cutler topped Browning Platt by a 14-12, 11-6, 11-8 count.
Other F&M players to post wins in three straight games included No. 1 Guilherme de Melo, who downed Omar Sobhy 13-11, 11-7, 13-11, No. 2 Mauricio Sedano, who took down Ahmed Abdel-Lahtif 11-8, 11-6, 11-9, and No. 5 Antonio De La Torre, who nabbed an 11-4, 11-7, 11-6 triumph over Sam Ehrlich.
At No. 3, Ryan Mullaney captured an 11-9, 9-11, 11-3, 11-9 win against James Reiss, while Aadit Zaveri also grabbed a four-game win at No. 8, defeating David Moxley 9-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-4. No. 6 Alex Arjoon outlasted Reid Breck in a back-and-forth five-gamer, 13-11, 10-12, 11-3, 11-3, 11-5.
The Diplomats return home tomorrow for a key matchup against No. 5 Cornell at 5:30 p.m.
