Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Billy Kempner scored two goals and handed out three assists to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 10-4 over Susquehanna Wednesday afternoon in men's lacrosse action. The Diplomats improved to 3-2 while the Crusaders dropped to 4-3.
F&M took control early and jumped out to a 2-0 lead 10 minutes into the game. Jordan Barr struck first with a goal at 13:20 and Kempner found Tristan Miller at 5:34 for the 2-0 edge. Susquehanna countered with two straight goals to tie the game at 2-2 with 8:08 left in the second.
Miller put F&M up for good off a feed from Evan Bakst at 4:17 and Sean Kenny gave the Diplomats a 4-2 halftime lead with a score with 31 seconds to the break.
The Diplomats opened up the second half strong with four unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. Miller hooked up with Michael Bossidy at 11:49 before Kenny found Barr at 8:04 to put F&M up 6-2. Bossidy struck again at 5:31 off a pass from Kempner and Kempner got his first score 23 second later to make it 8-2.
Susquehanna stopped the run with a score at 1:15 in the third and the Diplomats put two more through in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter to lead 10-3. Kempner assisted Chris Kelly for the first score and scored his second off a pass from Chad Gamble at 9:02. The Crusaders put one through at 5:05 to make it 10-4.
T.J. Tynan won 6-of-10 faceoffs while James King and A.J. Reichert finished with five groundballs and Carlos Pelaez picked up four for the Diplomats.
Cameron Setian improved to 3-2 with 10 saves and Will Torrence turned away seven shots in the loss.
F&M outshot Susquehanna 38-29, picked up 34 groundballs to the Crusaders' 21 and were successful on 21-of-22 clear attempts.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to York for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
