Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall dominated all three phases of the game in a 42-12 victory over Moravian Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) football action. The win is the second straight for the Diplomats as they improved to 4-3, 3-3 CC while the Greyhounds dropped to 3-4, 2-4 CC.

The Diplomats piled up 525 yards, with 303 on the ground, while the defense limited Moravian to just 72 rushing yards, 251 total yards and forced the Greyhounds to three three-and-outs.  F&M's kicking game was also at its peak as the Diplomats connected on all six PATs and recovered an onside kick.

The Diplomats struck early and often and jumped to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. After the defense held Moravian on fourth down, the offense drove seven plays and 85 yards and capped off the drive when Matt Magarity found Zackery for a 34-yard score.

The teams traded possessions over the next few series midway through the second, before defense had its most dominant series when it held the Greyhounds to minus two yards on three plays.

F&M took over with 4:18 left in the second quarter on its own seven-yard line. The Diplomats methodically put together a 15-play drive spanning over 4:18 for the final score of the half. Scott LaValva had 37 yards in the drive and on third-and-three, Magarity found Paul McGann for a five yard score to give F&M 21-0 halftime lead.

The Diplomats continued to dominate in the third, holding Moravian to another three-and-out, setting up F&M's fourth score of the game.  F&M took over on its own 43 and marched 57 yards in 11 plays with Magarity diving in from two yards out for a 28-0 lead.

Moravian put its first points on the board late in the third and F&M answered on its next possession when Zackery took a Magarity pass and weaved in and out of traffic 56 yards down the field for the score.  The Greyhounds countered on its next possession with a score to make it 35-12.

On the Diplomats next possession, Magarity led the team 64 yards down the field before calling his own number for a three-yard score and a 42-12 F&M advantage.
