Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – A late Alexandra Wiegel goal pushed Bryn Mawr past F&M 1-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action. The Diplomats fell to 1-8, 0-3 CC, while the Owls improved to 5-6, 1-3 CC.
With two minutes left, the Diplomats had an opportunity to score off a corner kick from Jennifer Lurty, however Bryn Mawr goalie Aviva Kosansky came out and grabbed the ball in traffic to preserve the 1-0 advantage.
In the 86th minute with the contest still scoreless, Bryn Mawr's Alexandra Wigel received a cross from the right side and deflected the ball past F&M goalkeeper Shannon Johnson-Finn to give the Owls a 1-0 lead and the eventual 1-0 victory.
The Diplomats had a decent scoring chance in the first half, as Brianna Reid slipped behind a defender in the 24th minute for a mini breakaway, but Bryn Mawr goalie Aviva Kosansky came up with the save to keep the score at 0-0.
Alexa Yarish and Reid led the offense with three shots apiece, while Johnson-Finn (1-6) was tough between the pipes but took the loss.
The Diplomats kept the edge in corner kicks at 7-2, while leading in shots by an 11-5 margin.
F&M returns to action Wednesday when the Diplomats travel to Johns Hopkins for a 7:00 p.m. game.
