Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – Franklin & Marshall was dropped by No. 8 Johns Hopkins 2-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Wednesday evening. The Diplomats fell to 1-9, 0-4 CC, while the Blue Jays improved to 10-2, 4-0 CC.
Johns Hopkins did not waste much time getting on the scoreboard as Sydney Teng ripped a free kick from 20 yards just over seven minutes into the contest to give the Blue Jays an early 1-0 advantage.
For the remainder of the opening half, the Diplomats played solid defense and kept the deficit at 1-0 going into the break.
For most of the second half, a solid F&M defense kept Johns Hopkins off the scoreboard, until the 85th minute when Hannah Kronick beat Diplomat goalkeeper Shannon Johnson-Finn for her CC-leading 10th goal of the year to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead and the eventual victory.
Nicole Rynecki recorded a shot on goal for F&M, while Brianna Reid tallied a shot.
Johns Hopkins held the advantage in shots at 20-2, while the Blue Jays had nine corner kicks compared to one from the Diplomats.
Johnson-Finn (1-7) made five saves, while Johns Hopkins' Sarah Benett (6-0) made one save.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to take on Haverford at 1:00 p.m.
