Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Morgan Lee scored a game-high 23 points to lead Franklin & Marshall to an 85-59 victory over Washington & Jefferson in the first round of the 2014 Lancaster Rotary F&M Charity Tip Off Tournament. The Diplomats will face New Jersey City, an 85-84 winner over Bridgewater, in the championship game tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
F&M took control early and jumped out to a 14-5 lead four minutes into the game with eight points from Lee. The Presidents answered with a 9-0 run and tied the game at 14-14, before the Diplomats countered with seven straight to go up 21-14. Tyler Hass brought W&J within five, before Devin Figueroa hit a three to kick off a 10-2 spurt. The Diplomats increased their lead in the remainder of the half and went into the break with a 43-26 advantage.
The Diplomats continued their dominance in the second stanza and went up 20 points, 59-39, seven minutes into the second half. F&M maintained a double-digit lead the remainder of the contest and led by as many as 26 points down the stretch.
Lee shot 9-for-15 from the floor and pulled down 11 boards to finish with a double-double while Cedric Moune also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Brandon Federici added 9 and Figueroa hit three-of-four from behind the arc for 12 points.
Mike Resnik had 17 for the presidents and Nick Martin chipped in 14 from the bench.
F&M outshot W&J 54% to 37% and held a 52-34 advantage on the glass.
