HARTFORD, Conn. – The No. 7 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team continued its strong start to the season, delivering No. 22 Bowdoin a 9-0 shutout on Saturday afternoon at Trinity College. The win improved the Diplomats to 2-0 on the year, while the Polar Bears fell to 0-1.
Cole Osborne came up strong at No. 1, earning the 11-7, 11-1, 11-9 sweep, while Dylan Cunningham at No. 2 (11-1, 11-4, 11-5) and Alex Arjoon at No. 3 (11-7, 11-1, 11-8) followed suit with shutouts of their own.
Playing at No. 4, Pedro Veiga de Almeida rolled to an 11-7, 11-5, 11-7 win, while Gavan Hitchenor (11-5, 11-4, 11-1) and Michael Sorochev (9-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-5) also came away with victories in the middle of the Diplomats' order.
Brian Henry at No. 7 (11-9, 11-1, 17-15), Christopher Bown at No. 8 (11-4, 11-8, 11-4) and Jackson McCord at No. 9 (11-8, 11-4, 11-8) rounded out the lineup for F&M by each registering shutouts.
The Diplomats return to the court on Wednesday when F&M hosts Drexel at the Mayser Center for its first home match of the season. The contest is set for a 6:00 p.m. start.
