LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 17 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team continued its strong start to the season, pulling off a 7-2 upset over No. 13 Drexel on Wednesday evening at the Mayser Center. The victory improved the Diplomats' record to 3-0 on the season, while the Dragons fell to 0-1.
Katherine Perry (No. 7), Jazmin Matos (No. 8) and Cris Margaret Frias Gonzalez (No. 9) got F&M off on the right foot by pulling off the sweep in each of their respective matchups.
Fiona Murphy (No. 1) was strong at the top of the order, coming back from a 2-1 hole (11-5, 5-11, 8-11) to take the final two games at 13-11 and 11-4. Sherilyn Yang was once again impressive at No. 2, continuing the torrid start to her freshman campaign with a 3-0 sweep (11-2, 11-9, 11-8).
Lauren Johnston at No. 3 and Dulakshi Elikewela at No. 4 each swept their opponent on the evening. Johnston took down her foe by an 11-8, 11-9, 11-6 score, while Elikewela came away victorious at 11-9, 11-3, 12-10.
The Diplomats face a tough task on Saturday, traveling to take on No. 5 Princeton at 1:00 p.m.
