Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Haverford pulled away in the second half and downed Franklin & Marshall 75-46 on Thursday night in women's Centennial Conference (CC) basketball action. The Fords moved to 4-3, 4-0 CC, while the Diplomats fell to 0-7, 0-4 CC.
In the early going, Haverford led at 7-2 with 16:38 remaining in the first. But after an F&M timeout, the Diplomats put together a 10-5 run to tie the contest at 12-12 with 12:17 to go in the first. From there, the teams traded buckets back-and-forth for five minutes, as the Fords held a slight 21-20 advantage with 7:01 left in the opening half.
From there, a 13-7 run to end the half gave Haverford a seven-point lead at 34-27 heading into the intermission. Sarah Haddon had a big first half for F&M, scoring 13 points while adding five rebounds.
With the Diplomats down 44-32 with 16:18 left in the game, a Kara Bacile three-pointer brought F&M to within nine at 44-35. However, that is the closest the Diplomats would come, as the Fords were 16-for-24 (66.7-percent) from the floor in the second half and went on to win by a score of 75-46.
Haddon finished with 15 points, including a 5-for-7 line from the charity stripe, while Bacile chipped in eight points. Leslie Bacile added five points to go along with four assists.
For Haverford, Elizabeth Lynch led all scorers with 21 points, while Anna Schrecengost recorded 12.
F&M returns to action on Monday, when the Diplomats travel to Allentown, Pa. to take on Cedar Crest at 7:00 p.m.
