NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 13 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team suffered a 9-0 setback to No. 4 Yale on Saturday afternoon in New Haven, Conn. The loss dropped the Diplomats' record to 4-3 on the season, while the Bull Dogs opened their year at 1-0.
Sherilyn Yang battled her opponent at the No. 1 spot in the order, taking an early 2-1 lead in the contest. However, Yale's Shihui Mao captured the final two games for the narrow 3-2 win (10-12, 11-5, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8).
At No. 4, Andreina Benedith fought hard but fell by an 11-7, 11-8, 12-10 score, while Katherine Perry dropped an 11-8, 11-8, 11-1 match at No. 5.
F&M returns home on Monday Jan. 12, for a 12:00 p.m. matchup with No. 1 Harvard.
