CANTON, N.Y. – The No. 18 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team handed No. 19 St. Lawrence a 6-3 defeat on Saturday afternoon in Canton, N.Y. The win propelled the Diplomats' record to 6-11 on the season while the Saints fell to 2-7.
After falling at the No. 1 spot, F&M responded with six wins from the No. 2-7 positions. Roxanna Mead was down after her opening game at No. 2 but responded by taking three-straight wins for the 7-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-7 victory. Kate O'Brien had to battle at the No. 3 spot but overcame an 0-2 deficit by taking the final three games for the marathon 3-2 win (4-11, 6-11, 13-11, 11-6, 11-9).
No.'s 4-6 rallied off three sweeps from Jazmin Matos at No. 4 (11-4, 11-2, 11-4), Liz Gatling at No. 5 (12-10, 11-4, 12-10) and Dana Rapisarda at No. 6 (11-2, 11-7, 11-5). Krista Lancione capped off the victories for F&M with a 3-1 win at the No. 7 position (11-6, 11-3, 11-13, 11-3).
The Diplomats wrap up their busy weekend tomorrow when F&M takes on Rochester at 10:00 a.m.
