BROOKLANDVILLE, Md. – No. 5 Franklin & Marshall handed No. 17 Washington & Lee a 12-4 loss in women's lacrosse action hosted at the St. Paul's School for Girls Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 2-0 while the Generals suffered their first loss of the year and fell to 4-1. 

The Generals struck first on a free position five minutes into the game for the early advantage, but it was all F&M after that as the Diplomats rattle off five straight to take a 5-1 halftime lead. Ali Kelly picked up her first score on a free position at 23:55 before Emily Everdell found the net at 21:53 to give F&M the lead for good. Natalie Delinsky netted back-to-back goals to put F&M up 4-1 and Kelly picked up her second at 4:22 for the final score of the half.  

F&M continued its run with five unanswered to start out the final stanza. Kelly again started things with a score at 27:45 and Yen Baker hooked up with Everdell for a score a 17:33. Grace Saliba found Baker to make it 8-1 at the midway point and Caroline Krohn netted two straight to make it 10-1 with 12:18 left to play.  

Anastasia Mergner made it 11-1 before the Generals finally found their way back on the board with a score a 6:16. Kimberly Abruzzo fed Casey Madden for the Diplomats last goal of the contest at 5:21 and W&L closed out the game with two straight.  

Kelsey Hoffman went to 2-0 with 10 saves while Cara Mulligan took the loss with 13 saves and dropped to 4-1.  

F&M held a 29-19 advantage in shots and went 19-for-24 on clear attempts.  

The Diplomats return to action Wednesday when F&M travels to No. 11 York for a 4:00 p.m. game.
