Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The No. 5 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team scored early and often in a 10-0 shutout of Bryn Mawr on Wednesday to kick off Centennial Conference (CC) play.
The Diplomats recorded their third consecutive shutout and improved to 6-0, 1-0 CC, while the Owls fell to 2-2, 0-1 CC.
Lauren Eastman scored on a deflection from Tamara Mills only 2:37 into the contest for the first of four F&M goals in the opening half. With a 4-0 lead heading into the second, the Diplomats continued to light up the scoreboard, notching six goals in the final frame en route to the 10-0 victory.
Eastman and Clare Wirth both recorded a pair of goals on the day, while Maria Guarisco notched one tally and assisted on two more. Juliet Dalton added a goal and an assist, while Sarah Powell, Sydney Cole, Megan Kelly and Melanie Consiglio all scored in the game.
F&M outshot Bryn Mawr by a 31-1 margin, while also dominating on penalty corners at 13-1. Wirth and Guarisco paced the offense with six shots apiece, while Annie Horsley tallied four.
Allie Morey (6-0) was solid in front of the cage to pick up the win and was relieved by Ashley Gubernick who didn't allow a goal in 22 minutes of play. The Owls' Alex Weinfeld (2-2) was charged with the loss, picking up seven saves.
The Diplomats return home for a stretch of three straight games at Tylus Field. On Saturday F&M faces off against CC opponent Swarthmore at 12:00 p.m.
