Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall clipped Washington College 69-63 in an overtime thriller in women's Centennial Conference (CC) basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Mayser Center. With the victory, the Diplomats improved to 3-9, 1-5 CC, while the Shorewomen dropped to 5-8, 1-5 CC.

With 10 seconds left and Washington up by one at 56-55, Shorewomen forward Carley Kendall was fouled. After sinking both free throws, Washington increased the lead to 58-55 with the clocking ticking down.

Franklin & Marshall drove the ball up the court, and with two seconds to go, Leslie Bacile got an open look from behind the arc and drained the shot, sending the contest into overtime in thrilling fashion.

A free throw from the Shorewomen's Ali Grundy brought Washington to within one point at 60-59 with 3:48 to go, but two straight layups from Carli Studnicky and Haddon put the Diplomats ahead 63-59 at the 2:23 mark.

The Shorewomen responded with a spurt of their own, a 16-2 run that tied the contest at 28-28 with 1:01 to go. A Washington layup with 30 seconds remaining gave the Shorewomen the narrow 30-28 lead heading into the break.

The second half featured back-and-forth action, as the Diplomats opened up a 39-33 lead at 11:16, only to see Washington come back and tie the game at 44-44 with 8:31 left after a Grundy trey.
