Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall was downed by Muhlenberg 74-36 on Tuesday night in women's basketball Centennial Conference (CC) action. The Diplomats fell to 3-10, 1-6 CC, while the Mules jumped to 7-5, 6-2 CC.
Muhlenberg opened up the contest scoring eight straight points, including five from Leanna Tallamy, to take an early 8-0 with 18:27 remaining in the opening half. Later in the first, the Mules' solid defense kept F&M from making consecutive buckets, as Muhlenberg extended the lead to 27-8 with 10 minutes to go.
The Mules maintained their lead throughout the rest of the half, and went into the locker room holding a 43-17 advantage.
Carli Studnicky led the Diplomats' offense in the first, scoring six points, while Emily Wetz recorded five points in the opening half.
Throughout the second half, Muhlenberg held its strong lead over F&M as the Mules went on to win by a score of 74-36.
Sarah Haddon recorded her second double-double of the season, going for 10 points and bringing down 12 rebounds, while adding three steals and Leslie Bacile chipped in eight points.
For Muhlenberg, Tallamy, the CC's leading rebounder, led all scorers with 17 points and recorded 13 boards. Nicole Pepe notched nine points and Janelle Fleet added eight.
The Diplomats return to the court on Thursday when F&M travels to Westminster, Md. to meet McDaniel for a 7:00 p.m. meeting.
