CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall edged out Dickinson 46-41 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Wednesday evening. The Diplomats improved to 4-11, 2-7 CC, while the Red Devils fell to 3-12, 1-10 CC.

With the contest tied at 38-38 with 58 seconds remaining in the second half, F&M's Sarah Haddon was fouled and went to the charity stripe for two shots. 

After the sophomore forward made the first, she missed the second, however Erica Brown stole the ball from the defense and nailed a jumper, giving the Diplomats the 41-38 advantage with 52 seconds to go. F&M never relinquished the lead, as clutch free throws down the stretch allowed the Diplomats to hold on for the 46-41 win.

In the early going, both defenses were making it tough for the offenses to score, as the game was tied 10-10 with 9:37 left in the first half. From there, F&M went on an 8-4 run capped off by two Haddon free throws at 47 seconds. The Red Devils hit a layup with 38 seconds left, but the Diplomats went into halftime hanging on to an 18-16 lead.

With 14:36 remaining in the contest, Emily Wetz knocked down a triple to make the score 25-24 in favor of F&M, however Dickinson's Ellen Bair responded with a trey, giving the Red Devils a 27-25 lead at 13:12. 

The teams traded buckets from there until Brown's jumper put the Diplomats up for good. The game featured 10 ties and seven lead changes, and neither team led by more than five points. 

Haddon finished with 11 points and 12 boards for her third double-double of the season, while Brown brought down 11 rebounds and notched six points. Wetz registered nine points, and Anajha Burnett and Leslie Bacile added eight points each.

Bair led Dickinson with 12 points, while Mary Martin recorded nine points and 12 rebounds. 

F&M held the edge on the glass at 46-45, and the Diplomats turned 23 Red Devil turnovers into 16 points.

F&M returns to action on Saturday, when the Diplomats travel to Bryn Mawr for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
