Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 20 Franklin & Marshall defeated Gettysburg 70-48 in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Tuesday evening. The Diplomats improved to 16-2, 9-2 CC while Gettysburg dropped to 11-7, 7-4 CC and the win is the 11th victory for F&M in the last 12 meetings over the Bullets.
The Diplomats jumped out to an early 14-4 lead with Morgan Lee scoring six points in the opening four minutes of action. Gettysburg came within four a few minutes later before F&M put together a 19-1 run that spanned almost 10 minutes and gave the Diplomats a 35-11 lead with 3:25 left to the break. Devin Figueroa's jumper at 2:10 and it 37-12 and the teams went into halftime with the Diplomats up 39-15.
F&M opened the second half by outscoring Gettysburg 13-4 and took a 33-point lead, 52-19, at 14:48 before taking its largest lead of the game, 58-21, at 12:31. The Diplomats maintained a double-digit advantage the remainder of contest and never dropped below a 20-point edge.
Lee finished with a game-high 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting. The senior has finished in double-figures 16 times this season has scored 20 or more points in five contests. Brandon Federici scored 13 points while Figueroa hit 5-of-7 from the floor for 11 points. Cedric Moune hauled in career-high 17 boards for the Diplomats.
Tanner Kirkpatrick was the only Bullet in double-figures with 11 points.
F&M outshot Gettysburg 43-40 percent and held a 41-31 advantage on the glass.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M hosts Swarthmore at 3:00 p.m.
